Banks and Currency Exchange
Bank Hours are normally 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. Hotels will exchange money at other times.
Climate and Weather
October is the beginning of Fall in Texas which means the temperature can change when brief northern cool fronts arrive. Average temperatures will be from 85F high and 65F low. Evenings in the hill country (i.e. the rodeo) may become cool later in the evening.
Credit Cards
Visa and Mastercard are the most used credit cards. Amex is accepted at most locations. Acceptance of Diners Club cards may be limited.

In the event of industrial disruption or other unforeseen circumstances, the Symposium Organizers cannot be held responsible for any losses incurred by delegates. The program is correct at time of lodging, but the organizers reserve the right to alter the program if, and as, deemed necessary.
Electric Power Supply
Electricty is 110 v with a two plug system.
Insurance
It is strongly recommended that delegates take out adequate travel and health insurance prior to commencement of travel. Contact your travel agent for advice.
Letters of Invitation
Delegates requiring a Letter of Invitation to assist with Visa applications to attend the Symposium should email the HCV2008 Org. Please note that this will only be provided once the Registration Form has been completed and charged to the Credit Card provided. Your Registration will be processed, and a Confirmation Invoice advising receipt of payment and attendance at the Symposium will be issued.
This may then be presented to your Embassy/High Commission to assist with the application of your visa.
However, this, in no way constitutes an official invitation covering the cost of registration, travel or other expenses.
In the event of your application being unsuccessful, a full refund of the registration fee will be provided.
Liability
The Organizing Committee and/or Symposium Organizer shall not be held liable for personal accidents or losses or damage to private property of registered delegates of the symposium. Delegates should make their own arrangements in respect of personal insurance.
Passports and Visas
A valid passport is required for entry into the United States of America. Please check with your local consulate for specific details of visa requirements from your country.
Shopping
The Rivercenter Mall is connected to the Marriott Hotel and is open from 10am to 9 pm (Sunday 6pm). Most downtown shops are open 10 - 5 pm.
Smoking
Smoking is banned in all public buildings in San Antonio including restaurants, but excluding bars with limited food service.
Taxes
Hotel room tax with state tax is !6.75% for San Antonio. All other purchases (except groceries and medical) subject to State and City tax of 8.125%.
Tipping
Tipping is expected in restaurants. 15% average, many people tip 20% for very good service. With large parties of eight or more, some restaurants will add the tip to the bill, so it is advisable to check or ask.
Bellmen carrying luggage to room $5 average unless excess bags.
Room service will have 15-22% built into the bill, therefore no tip.
